Hosting Fair Use Policy (FUP)

At Voxos & MagicWebDesigns, we provide enterprise-grade hosting powered by 4th Gen Intel® Xeon® Gold infrastructure. To maintain our 99.9% uptime standards and competitive pricing, we operate a Client-Managed model. By using our services, you agree to the following standards:

1. "Unlimited" Storage & Bandwidth Usage

"Unlimited" refers to data used for standard website operations and business email. To ensure server stability for all users, the following are strictly prohibited:

  • Using hosting as a cloud storage drive (e.g., storing personal/commercial movies, TV series, music libraries, large installers, or non-website archives).
  • Streaming, hosting, or linking to high-bandwidth media (such as video series, movies, audio feeds, or IPTV streams) directly from the server without an approved CDN.
  • Hosting peer-to-peer (P2P) file-sharing networks, torrent trackers, or unauthorized download directories.
  • Backups & Disk I/O: Clients are responsible for their own data. Automated local backup plugins (such as UpdraftPlus) are prohibited from running during peak business hours (08:00 to 18:00 SAST) as they degrade physical disk speed. We encourage downloading monthly backups locally.
2. Email Performance & Anti-Spam
  • Account Quotas: Limits are strictly enforced by package (Start: 15 | Pro: 60 | Elite: 1000).
  • Spam Management: You are responsible for managing your spam filters via DirectAdmin. If a domain sends unsolicited bulk mail and causes a server IP blacklist, we reserve the right to suspend the account immediately to protect other users.
  • SMTP Limits: Our servers are optimized for business communication, not mass-marketing newsletters.
3. Server Resource & Inode Policy

Inodes represent the total number of files and folders on your account. To maintain our 358-day continuous uptime record, we enforce the following limits:

  • Unlimited Start: 150,000 Inodes
  • Unlimited Pro: 300,000 Inodes
  • Unlimited Enterprise Elite: 600,000 Inodes

Resource Limits (LVE): To protect global server speed, each account is allocated restricted slices of physical CPU, physical RAM, and Input/Output (I/O) speed. Accounts that exceed these allocations (e.g., during un-cached traffic spikes) will be automatically throttled to protect neighbouring accounts from performance drops.

4. Prohibited Server Activities & Database Performance

To preserve CPU and database responsiveness across our LiteSpeed and MariaDB environments, the following are strictly enforced:

  • Cryptocurrency Mining: Any form of crypto mining, running blockchain nodes, or executing mining scripts (even web-based ones) is strictly prohibited and will result in immediate termination without refund.
  • Database Limits (MariaDB): To prevent database query lockups, individual databases are capped at a maximum of 2GB. Total database tables must not exceed 1,000 per account. Databases should only be queried by the website hosted on our servers; remote SQL calls for external applications are prohibited.
  • LiteSpeed Optimization (Caching): Dynamic, heavy-database platforms (such as WordPress/WooCommerce) must utilize an active caching system (we recommend and support LiteSpeed Cache / LSCache) to prevent constant PHP process exhaustion.
  • Background Processes & Bots: Running persistent background daemons, IRC bots, game servers, aggressive automated web scrapers, or cron jobs that execute more frequently than every 5 minutes is prohibited.
  • Security Hazards: Operating proxy servers, VPN endpoints, or hosting/distributing malware, phishing landing pages, and "nulled" (pirated) software, themes, or plugins is strictly banned.
5. POPIA, FICA & Data Compliance

Clients hosting personal information, KYC (Know Your Customer) documents, or financial records on our servers must comply with South African regulatory standards:

  • Data Protection (POPIA): Under the Protection of Personal Information Act, the client is designated as the "Responsible Party" for all data stored on their hosting account. Clients are solely responsible for securing their websites (e.g., using strong passwords, SSL/HTTPS, and regular plugin updates) to prevent personal data breaches. POPIA non-compliance and data leaks can carry administrative fines of up to R10 million or criminal liability.
  • Identity & Financial Records (FICA): If your business captures, stores, or processes identity documents, proof of address, or sensitive financial records to comply with the Financial Intelligence Centre Act (FICA), you must ensure this data is encrypted and secured. Voxos and MagicWebDesigns act solely as a raw infrastructure provider and assume no responsibility or liability for regulatory audits, data leaks, or legal fines resulting from poorly secured client databases or CMS environments.
6. Client-Managed Responsibility Model

WE MANAGE:

Hardware (Xeon Gold), 99.9% Uptime, LiteSpeed Enterprise 6.3, MariaDB 10.6, and Security Patching.

YOU MANAGE:

Website files, CMS updates (WordPress), Email password resets, Spam filter thresholds, local backup downloads, database optimization, and regulatory compliance (POPIA/FICA).

Manual technical interventions (restoring files due to user error or fixing code) are billable at our standard hourly support rate.

7. Infrastructure & Support

Our production environment is hosted in Luxembourg to ensure immunity from South African power instability (Load Shedding). We provide Direct South African Support—no automated call centers.
